Roof leak? How to find a roof leak. If your roof is leaking and you notice damage Inside you want to get your roof repair as soon as possible, before it causes more damage. 1st look for obvious damage like missing shingles or damage from a fallen tree limb. If there's no obvious damage then start looking in the area of the leak for bad flashing, stagger pattern not far enough apart, nails in the key ways, bad pipe flashing installation.
