Creating a pool oasis in your backyard can be a great way to escape from it all and gather with friends and family. Here are 5 tips to help you design around your swimming pool:

Tip #1: Lighting
When it comes to lighting, having lights inside the pool is great for both general use as well as illuminating the water for a beautiful look at night. Additionally, choosing the right type of lighting around the pool area can give it a nice and warm feel. Consider what theme you're aiming for in your backyard and pick out lights accordingly.

Tip #2: Pathways
Having pathways or interlocking walkways leading up to the pool makes a big difference in terms of both convenience and aesthetic appeal. You don't want to be walking on grass all the time, so creating stone or flat rock pathways that wind their way around the perimeter of your pool is ideal. Concrete is an option as well, though it can be rough on bare feet while walking around the pool and isn't always best optically speaking.

Tip #3: Rocks & Trees
Rocks are great for adding dimension and visual interest to your pool area. When combined with trees, these two natural elements can really bring out beauty in any landscape. Trees also offer needed shade, privacy and protection from windy days – just keep in mind that depending on their species, trees may shed leaves, flowers or fruit over time.

Tip #4: Plants & Shrubbery
Choosing plants carefully is important when landscaping around pools – you don't want anything that's going to shed too often getting into the water, so stick with types that produce little debris. It's also nice if there are sweet-smelling plants nearby so you get pleasant aromas while swimming or lounging near them! If you have limited space available, then planting a container garden is another good option - which involves arranging potted plants cohesively together.

Tip #5: Hardscapes & PrivacyIf entertaining guests by your pool is something you do often then consider setting up a patio or deck space near your swimming oasis. Adding simple but attractive furniture pieces helps create an inviting atmosphere here as well! Finally, fencing creates a stunning backdrop against plants while offering nearly complete privacy if desired - however if fences aren't preferred then alternating rows of trees or shrubs will also work just fine!
