Welcome back to the channel today’s video. I’ve got called out to a customer’s house because they have a hole in their waste pipe. This is connected to the sink so every time they use it, water flies out of it. Now this isn’t ordinary sized waste pipe it’s slightly smaller and it uses push fittings. On the inside of the house there is lots of different types of fittings and places where potential leaks can happen so the plan is to rip it all out and tidy up pipework using less fittings.

The pipework is European size so you have to use adapters for a normal pipework size and any other plumber would’ve just cut the pipe and stuck another adapter on leaving everything all in place as it is the quickest and easiest thing to do. I like to do the most that I can for my customers as it benefits them and makes it easier for repairs in the future.

The pipework on the outside becomes very brittle with the sun so this just fell apart when I twisted it and after disconnecting some of the pipework on the inside I can pull that length out which was actually full of sludge and build up. There is plumbing for a washing machine or dishwasher discharge with a standpipe which has been smelling for awhile as they used a washing detergent lid just a cut it off the washing machine connects with it separate waste to the left-hand side of the sink and all the pipework is in behind the unit with lots more bends. The sink trap itself is held up by a couple of corks.

The plan was to cut it all out and start again from the sink and have at least amount of bends terminator outside. I changed the waste trap so the washing machine hose went straight to it. This is joint using a washing machine clamp and makes things a lot simpler with a lot less pipework to go wrong. They did mention that they had a flood caused by that standpipe as I can only assume it either got blocked or the house fell out.

With a new pipe threaded all the way from outside after drilling the hole a little bit wider we have a straight pipe running from the outside all the way to the sink and I’ve used long radius Benz instead of knuckle bands to help with flow on the outside, we terminated it into a gully and I made good around the pipe and the hole using some silicon cement.

most plumbers would just cut an add-on but I think it’s much more beneficial to the customer to have less hazards and better flow rate for the sinks for years to come. If you’d like today’s video please give it a like drop a comment below and please as always subscribe if you are you.
