Dave and Rich are renovating a 6,000 square foot lake house. In the great room and kitchen there were two sunken levels. In order to make everything level, they needed to raise one area 6 inches and another area was raised 12 inches before hardwood floor installation.
In this video they show every step of how to install an engineered hardwood floor. This involves acclimating the boxes of engineered hardwood for at least three days so there won't be any humidity issues with the hardwood after installation. After that, a layer of padding is placed on the subfloor. This padding will reduce any noise from the floor and create a vapor barrier. The padding is joined together with duct tape. Next, the hardwood is sorted by size and selected from many boxes, to give it a random look. After that, the hardwood is clicked into place.
