How To Work On LIVE Electrical Circuits - Master Electrician (DO NOT ATTEMPT)

This is a short clip from a longer video where Stephan demonstrates how to install a data logger on a LIVE 600 AMP, 480 Volt electrical panel called a switchgear. He shows the proper way to wear an arc flash suit, how to open a live electrical panel, how to work with live electrical wires, how to handle an electrical breaker, and how to figure out how much electrical amperage is produced in a short circuit fault situation.

This is a demonstration video ONLY showing how to safely follow NFPA 70E and OSHA safety standards when working with live electricity. This is NOT a tutorial for DIY installers or untrained electricians. Only competent trained electrical professionals should perform this type of electrical work. AGAIN I STATE THIS IS NOT A TUTORIAL FOR UNTRAINED INDIVIDUALS. DO NOT ATTEMPT!

The point of this video is to show how to safely install a data logger on a live electrical switchgear when the facilitiy cannot be shut down. Make sure to wear all proper PPE, and follow NFPA 70E and OSHA regs. I thought it would be a good demonstration to remind everyone how important following procedure is considering so many electricians don’t use PPE or are urged by their employers to do hot work without the proper PPE.
