The house here is a cape in Commack. We began by gutting the entire house and removing the roof. After all the demo was completed and removed, we began to work on the foundation. We excavated, formed the footings, installed rebar, and poured the footings with a keyway. Next we set up the forms for the walls and poured them. Once the forms were pulled, we waited 72 hours for the cement to cure enough to begin work on the new structure. The to framing was a mixture of nominal and engineered wood along with some steel. After the house was framed and sheathed, we began the task of installing all the necessary metal strapping that is called for by building codes. The roof began with installing ice & water shield on all the rakes, fascia, and valleys on the roof. 15 lbs tar paper is installed over the whole roof and then the asphalt shingles by GAF. On this particular job, Andersen casement series 400 windows were predominantly used. These windows came with extension iambs and pre finished white interior paint from the factory to save tome later in the project. Siding by Crane, color Cypress, with cedar perfections in the front and dutchlap on remaining sides, was used to finish off the exterior. The soffit was a white vinyl beadboard and we finished the wood work with white aluminum. We added some architectural detail by making panels out of Azek to dress up the exterior a notch further. The front porch was finished with a custom Limestone paver by GAPPSI. The driveway was another Limestone paver by GAPPSI. The stonework on the house was by Eldorado, a cultured stone. For the rear patio, travertine French pattern pavers by GAPPSI were chosen for the soft feel and resistance to heat. 10" square, recessed permacast columns by HB&G. The interior begins with the HVAC rough in, followed by plumbing and then the electrical. When these areas have passed inspection, the insulation cam begin. The homeowner choose a closed cell spray foam for the entire house. Once this was completed, the Sheetrock was installed and finished with tape & compound. The hardwood floors were installed next, protected, and the the doors & trim work followed. While this was going on, the tile work on the kitchen floor and bathroom were also taking place. The house now was ready for paint a d after doing so , the kitchen cabinets were installed. Upon completion of that, the granite was installed, followed by the backsplash and appliances. Now that the house was basically completed, a final punch list was made and knocked out with a final cleaning to allow the homeowners to move their belongings into their new home.http://gappsi.com/long-island-home-improvement-remodeling-general-contractor-ny.http://gappsi.com
